Solution:
The
solution for monitoring the ash build-up in the collection hopper is
based on measuring the
loads response of the hoppers support
structures as well as the hopper wall temperature differential.

Details:
The ash hopper is supported by structural I-beams.
The support beams are instrumented with strain gauges to measure the
relative change in load carried through the I-beam load path as the
amount (level) of ash in the hopper changes.
